Dr. Brian P. Kinmartin, PT, DPT, MTC, OCS, STC
Dr. Brian P. Kinmartin, PT, DPT, MTC, OCS, STC is the founder and owner of Professional Rehabilitation Services. Brian is a licensed Physical Therapist in South Carolina and has practiced in the Horry - Georgetown Counties of South Carolina since 1998. He actively operates and treats at the Pawleys Island Office.
A distinguished graduate of Daemen College in Amherst, NY, Brian earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy in 1998. Brian has worked in various outpatient settings in South Carolina. Brian's motivation to establishing Professional Rehabilitation Services in 2004 was the desire to provide individualized treatments and unmatched customer service to patients, forming professional relationships with the physicians in our communities, and wanting to provide an unwavering commitment to the community to provide the best care to those in need of physical therapy. With this goal in mind, Brian is always continuing his post-professional education, in order to stay abreast of new techniques and the latest in scientific & evidence based physical therapy innovations. His post-professional education has enabled him to earn his Manual Therapy Certification (2004) and Doctorate of Physical Therapy (2005) from the University of St. Augustine, Florida. Brian is also a Board Certified, Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), (2007), through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). He remains an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Brian has his Certificate of Clinical Competence, in Vestibular Rehabilitation, (2008), through the APTA and Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, and he completed his Sports Therapy Certification through the National Athletic and Sports Medicine Institute in June 2011. Brian has been practicing physical therapy since 1998, and every day is passionate and devoted to those in need of physical therapy as he was when he entered the profession and treated his first patient.
Specializing in manual therapy, outpatient orthopedic rehab, sports & spine, and vestibular physical therapy, Brian has established a team of clinicians that have the same treatment philosophy that includes going above and beyond with the care of our patients in a friendly atmosphere that patients deserve. As an educator by nature, he will explain your condition and any recommended treatment options in great detail and provide you with the support and encouragement you deserve.
Outside of the office, Brian enjoys golfing, traveling, swimming and spending time with his wife Melissa and their three children Madison, Emma and Mason.
Richard "Ricky" A. Owens, Jr, PT, MS, OCS, Cert. SMT
Ricky Owens PT, MS, OCS, Cert. SMT is a business partner at Professional Rehabilitation Services. Ricky currently operates and treats at the Surfside Beach Office located on Highway 544 in front of Sayebrooke Medical. He was actually born in Myrtle Beach in 1976, and has spent every summer and every other weekend in the Surfside and Myrtle Beach area since moving here permanently in 1994. Ricky Graduated from Johnsonville High school in 1994.
Richard Owens has been practicing in the Horry and Georgetown counties since 2003. A graduate of Clemson University, he received his Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in 1999. Ricky is a graduate from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. where he received his Master of Rehabilitation Sciences in Physical Therapy in 2003. Ricky is a Board Certified, Clinical Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association and passed his manual therapy certification Cert. SMT in March 2011.
Ricky has been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2003. His experience and education supports his evaluation and implementation of specialized treatment plans for numerous conditions, based on a patient's individual needs. He believes in patient specificity with a strong emphasis on patient education for improved long-term results.
Ricky specializes in Orthopaedic conditions of the neck and back, as well as post-surgical rehabilitation and joint replacements. He also enjoys sports performance programs emphasizing core stabilization for the knee, hip and the shoulder. Ricky is certified in Functional Capacity Evaluations. Ricky is currently continuing his specializations in manual and sports physical therapy through the University of St. Augustine and the Spinal Manipulation Institute.
Outside of the physical therapy world, he enjoys music and athletics, especially softball and Martial Arts. Ricky loves spending time with his wife, Kristin, a local realtor with Chicora Coldwell Banker in Surfside, his son, Tucker and daughter, Keira.
Dr. Richard DeFalco, DPT, OCS, CSCS
Dr. Richard DeFalco, DPT, OCS, CSCS is the newest partner to join Professional Rehabilitation Services and will practicing in the new Myrtle Beach office located on the corner of Highway17 bypass and 48th Avenue North.
His education in the field of healthcare began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Sports Studies from Rutgers University in 2001, where he graduated with academic honors. As such he was awarded with membership into the Golden Key National Honors Society. Upon graduation he sat for and passed the National Strength and Conditioning Associations' Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Examination (CSCS). The CSCS is the only strength training and conditioning certification to be nationally accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and recognizes professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance.
He then continued his pursuit of higher education and was accepted into the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ. Graduating with his DPT Degree and with academic honors in 2005, he moved with his wife to North Carolina. He spent six years in an outpatient orthopedic private practice treating patients of all ages and diagnoses and where he also served as director of physical therapy. He also served as a clinical instructor for the University of North Carolina-Pembroke's Athletic Training Program. His main areas of interest are the shoulder, knee, foot, and ankle though is well versed in all areas of orthopedic related issues. Richard combines areas of manual therapies, therapeutic exercise, and patient education to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Richard is licensed as a physical therapist in the states of New Jersey, North Carolina, and South Carolina. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, South Carolina Physical Therapy Association, North Carolina Physical Therapy Association, Orthopedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and the American Academy of Orthopedic and Manual Physical Therapists. He was also granted certification as a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2009. The specialist certification program was established to provide formal recognition for physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge, experience, and skills in a special area of practice and to assist consumers and the health care community in identifying these physical therapists. In addition, Richard is consistently attending continuing education seminars to stay current with evidence based supported therapies. This allows him to treat patients in the most effective manner that is supported by evidence, not the most accepted, antiquated, and unsupported approaches that are too often used.
When outside of the office, Richard enjoys spending time with his wife Alayna and son Roman. He also enjoys outdoor activities, exercise, racquetball, and boxing.
James P. Jones, PTA
James Jones is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. He has worked in the golf course maintenance industry for the past 15 years.
He continued his education at Horry Georgetown Technical College in Myrtle Beach, SC. In 2009 he earned his Associates in Applied Sciences from the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at HGTC.
Jim is experienced in the outpatient rehabilitation setting. He enjoys working with patients with orthopedic injuries, sports and neurological conditions. He enjoys working with all age groups, including geriatrics. His professional interests include: Orthopedics and Manual Therapy.
Outside of work he enjoys boating, fishing, skiing, and spending time with his wife and two children.
Lauren Hepler, PTA
Lauren Hepler is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Retail Management from University of South Carolina in 2005. She worked in banking for 3 years in Charlotte, moving back to Murrells Inlet in 2008. In 2010, she earned her Associate in Applied Sciences from the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at HGTC. Lauren is experienced in the outpatient rehabilitation setting. She enjoys watching her patients improve from visit to visit.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Melissa Kinmartin, R.T., RDMS, RVT, PBT - Office Administrator
Melissa joined Professional Rehabilitation Services, her husband's private practice, in 2004 at the insistence to "learn the business". Starting as the front desk specialist and being the all around person she gradually learned the many different aspects of being a business owner and assuming greater responsibility. When the business got on its feet she became the full time Office Administrator. Even though she is not involved directly in patient care at all times, patient contact is a top priority. Melissa bridges the gap between office management, the front desk and with therapists to ultimately promote overall outstanding service, quality care and high patient satisfaction. Melissa's attention to detail and high level of organizational skills provide a calm environment for the patients and employees.
As office administrator she is involved and oversees patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, phone support, billing operations, and all other office related tasks for both offices. She is responsible for the level of quality of all administrative functions in our office. Melissa oversees all aspects of our business development and operations and is in charge of all the marketing such as the website, marketing literature and targeted marketing campaigns.
As a graduate of Trocaire College, she has a degree in Radiologic Technology and Diagnostic Medical Sonography. She has worked in the hospital and patient care environment for over 13 years.
Outside of the office, Melissa enjoys with Brian being the parents of their three children Madison, Emma and Mason. Hobbies include: Going to the beach, traveling, swimming, and soccer.
Rebecca Johnson, Front Desk Specialist - PI Office
Following her deep passion for helping people, Beckie branched out into the health field and took a position as a Front Desk Specialist at Professional Rehabilitation Services. Beckie serves the company and our patients by interacting with new and existing patients in our practice to make sure they are welcomed and comfortable. Beckie is known for her organization skills, friendliness and getting the job done efficiently. This involves personalized care, insurance verification, scheduling appointments, phone support and all other office related and clinical tasks.
Beckie grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina but has been in the Murrells Inlet area since 1986 and attended Gaston College.
When Beckie is not working she enjoys her time with husband Bobby and their two sons, Alan who is attending Clemson, and Scott who is attending Coastal Carolina University.
Robin Grissom
Front Desk Specialist - PI Office
It is very likely when you come to our Pawleys Island clinic, Robin will be one of the first people you meet. Robin is known for her friendliness and her timely responsiveness to any concerns that you may have. Her ability to connect with people and help them feel welcome and comfortable makes Robin a natural for the practice. Her responsibilities include scheduling appointments, insurance verification of benefits, filing, and clinical office duties.
Robin grew up in Myrtle Beach. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Business she moved to the Raleigh/Durham area where she worked for Duke University in their alumni department for many years. She returned to the beach in July of last year.
Robin enjoys spending time with her 16 year old twins boys watching them play baseball and also likes spending time with her older daughter Kellsie going to the beach.
Linda Antonino - Front Office Specialist
Linda is the Office Clinical Assistant and one of the Front Desk Specialists at Professional Rehabilitation Services. Linda has over 25 years experience in the medical field including being a medical assistant in the field of orthopaedics, and an office manager in a family practice. Linda helps Melissa the Office Administrator with the daily operations of Professional Rehabilitation Services including, billing, insurance, electronic medical records, scheduling, filing etc. and also works as a Front Desk Specialist. She strives to provide a high standard of customer service for each of our patients.
